Description

The 1747-L551 processor module is an SLC 500 and SLC 5/05 series processor module that has been designed by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. It can be used with an Allen-Bradley 1747-M13 memory module which will give it up to 64K of backup memory capacity. The 1747-L551 processor module also has CMOS RAM that supports battery backup. Its maximum current capacity is 1 Amp at 5 Volts DC and 0 Amps at 24 Volts DC. The 1747-L551 processor module can support up to 32 connections at a time.

The Allen-Bradley 1747-L551 Processor Hardware is integrated with a program memory size of 16 KB. It is high-performance controller, capable of controlling up to 4096 input and output points. This module supports online and offline programming such as runtime editing. The Allen-Bradley 1747-L551 has channel-to-channel, remote I/O, and DeviceNet pass-thru features. This module also has a built-in real-time clock and calendar. This module comes with a Ethernet port for network connection and RS232 port for peer-to-peer communication. The RS-232 channel supports DF1 full duplex, DF1 half-duplex master and a DF1 radio modem. The integrated Ethernet port supports a built-in 10/100 Base-T Ethernet channel for supporting SNMP, BOOTP, extended messaging capabilities, and high-speed communication. For programming, it includes advanced math instructions and various additional instructions. It also includes support for indirect addressing. The SLC 505 has a typical Program Scan Time per Keyword of 0.9 milliseconds and typical I/O scan time of 0.225 milliseconds.

This module has a dielectric withstand of 150 Volts AC based on the UL 508, CSA C22.2 No. 142 Standards. The operating vibration of the 1747-L551 is 2.5G at 5 to 2000 Hertz. The non-operating vibration is 5G at 5 to 2000 Hertz. The isolation between the communication circuits of this module is around 500 Volts DC. The isolation between the backplane and the I/O of this module is 1500 Volts AC. Before installing and uninstalling I/O devices, disconnect the power from the controller and the other power sources that serve the I/O device. The operating temperature of the 1747-L551 is 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and the storage temperature is around -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The Allen-Bradley 1747-L551 has an operating shock of 30G (3 pulses, 11 milliseconds). The nonoperating shock is 50G (3 pulses, 11 milliseconds). The relative humidity is from 5-95% non-condensing. This module has a scan time typically around 0.9 milliseconds/K. Its LED light will indicate several different situations, including when the module is running, when the CPU experiences a fault, when the battery is low, an I/O is being forced, or when its Ethernet/RS-232 ports are active.

This processor is exclusively installed in Slot Zero (0) of the SLC 500 chassis. It supports Remote I/O implementation with the use of a communication adapter installed at the chassis where the CPU is located, and scanner modules installed at the chassis where the Remote I/O modules are described. Supported communication protocols are Ethernet, Remote I/O (RIO), DH485 and Data Highway Plus (DH+). It must be cleared that Remote I/O technology is different from Remote I/O (RIO) protocol. Remote I/) technology or sometimes referred to as Distributed I/O is the technology that allows installation of Input and Output modules away from the processor, through a remote chassis with the CPU still treating the remote modules as part of the local chassis. Remote I/O or most commonly referred to as RIO is a proprietary protocol by Allen-Bradley.

This processor, similar to other processors is designed with the capability of being communicated to computer-based control systems such as Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).

The Allen-Bradley 1763-L16BBB is a MicroLogix 1100 Controller. The Allen-Bradley 1762-L40BWAR is a MicroLogix 1200 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This controller has Twenty (20) standard 24VDC inputs, Four (4) Fast 24VDC inputs and Sixteen (16) relay, outputs. For communication, it has an embedded 8-pin mini-DIN communication port supporting DF1, DH-485, ASCII, MODBUS protocols and a programming port located on the left side of the controller. The 1762-L40BWAR is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) from Allen-Bradley. This controller is a MicroLogix 1200 controller that is ideally used for implementing micro and small automation requirements.

The 1762-L40BWAR primarily features Two (2) communication interface, located on the controller’s front panel and left side. Both communication ports are 8-pin mini-DIN circular connectors. The 1764-24BWA base requires a processor to function, it is compatible with either the 1764-LRP or 1764-LSP.

It has a 120 to 240 Volt AC-rated power line and 12 relays (two of which are isolated). It has an 88 VA power consumption, maximum load power of 22, and a power supply voltage of 85 to 265 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. It also has a 24 Volt DC Power Sensor specified at 400 mA or 400 µF capacitance maximum, powerful feature not available in other base units. The 1764-24BWA Base has product certifications for CE, C-Tick, UL, c-UL, and Class I Division 2 Hazardous Location operation. It slides together with the Bulletin 1764 Processor to form the complete controller. This assembly should not be mounted near power lines.

The Allen-Bradley 1764L24BWA is a MicroLogix 1500 base unit. This base unit provides a modular housing. This base unit may be installed with MicroLogix processors such as 1764-LSP and 1764-LRP. Additionally, this base unit may be installed with a Data Access Tool (DAT) such as 1764-DAT. Other compatible modules for installation to the base unit are memory modules and real-time clock.

The 1764-24BWA MicroLogix 1500 base unit features an integrated Eight (8) 24VDC discrete inputs, Four (4) High-Speed inputs and Twelve (12) Relay outputs. This base units requires minimum panel space during installation. It may be installed using a DIN rail or with the use of mounting screws. Recommended installation clearance is Two (2) inches on all sides of the controller. This is to ensure adequate ventilation.

The 1764-24BWA supports installation of expansion modules to enhance the integrated features of the base unit. Compatible expansion modules are 1769 Compact I/O modules. These modules may be directly installed as local I/O module. Additionally, this base unit further supports an extended configuration through an expansion rack. This accomplished with the use 1769 expansion cable.

The integrated communication port supports interface via DF1 protocol in Full or Half Duplex. It may be interfaced with an Advanced Interface Converter (AIC) are 1761-NET-AIC, 1761-NET-ENI, or to a DeviceNet network through with the use of DeviceNet Scanner module 1769-SDN. This same converter may also be used to multiplex the serial port on the base unit which allows simultaneous communication of Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), programming workstation, device converters and gateways.
